Getting ready for work

So it rained, then it poured, so I called my Mom and we worked out a time and everything... she's awesome, she picks me up when it rains! So then I stop by the Union to grab a couple special sodas (one for myself, one for the momma)sa special because it's my LAST soda for the next 40 days... I'm giving soda up! AND THEN... the rain has stopped. I walked down to my dorm and it was drizzling, and now it seems to be on/off drizzling/cloudy... not even downpour anymore! Now I feel bad calling my mom, it's actually warm enough to walk back tonight... that hasn't happened in a while! Oh, well- I'm such a wimp when it comes to the cold/snow/rain... this was precautionary thinking, I guess!

Today's breakfast held me over SO WELL! Three whole hours, awesome.
For lunch I packed a whole wheat wrap with 2 tbsp hummus, 2 tbsp tabbouleh, some sliced cucumber and a bunch of baby spinach. I also had some baby carrots and a big pear on the side. Yum!

Lunch calories: ~400

This held me too; I'll be having a snack before going into training/work this evening, and dinner's just a simple vegan burger/veggie combo again... nothin' crazy.

Cravings!

So this morning I really couldn't pinpoint my craving for breakfast!
I went for a steady 35 minute run, during which I decided I wanted peanut butter oatmeal! Came back, showered, and decided I was TOTALLY craving some Kashi GoLean Honey Almond Flax. It's not too cold out there (a bit wet, but mild) so I had a nice 1 1/2 cups of this, with the rest of my banana (ate the 1st half before my run) and 1 cup westsoy low fat soy milk.

Altogether this breakfast was ~520 kcals. I packed my lunch for today so I can multitask again!
I have work later on, lunch/snack/dinner may be late!

Off to philosophy...

Grumbling

My stomach was rumbling and grumbling, so although it was late... I knew I had to give it something or else I won't be able to sleep!

So, I snacked on a very juicy medium nectarine.
Now it's time to get some shut eye... I have an early morning tomorrow, then a pretty tough day of classes- I packed myself a lunch again to have in between!

G'Night!

Cheesy Greens!

Thats the name for the wonderful new sandwich I made to go with dinner =)
Ok, I know it sounds weird, but I'm tired after a long day, and it seemed creative!

For lunch today I stopped by the dining hall and grabbed a BIG salad, that I overflowed with veggies: spring greens, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauliflower, cucumbers, a few black olives for some healthy fat, and approx. 1/2-3/4 cup chickpeas/kidney beans. I topped this with some balsamic vingear, and devoured it! I sure do love my veggies =)
I also almost ate an apple, but decided I was craving a banana (LOVE bananas!) so I had a large banana along with this.

Total lunch calories: ~420

This held me over a couple hours, until I grabbed a tall coffee and snacked on an Almond Coconut KIND bar in between nutrition classes.

I love these kind bars, it held me just over 2 1/2 hours, before my stomach started growling a little... but I held out the three, and had dinner at 7 after class!

Snack= 190 kcals.

Dinner was in the dorm again, I heated up 1 cup of my favorite Pacific Organic Creamy Tomato Soup (unfortunately the last bit of my container) and made myself a dorm style "grilled cheese" which I made with 1 mini whole wheat bagel and 1 slice reduced fat provolone... I spruced it up with a bit of dijon mustard for flavor and some baby spinach for extra greens! Delish!
I also had 10 baby carrots on the side. Nice, filling balanced dinner. Got all my dairy in today, plenty of veggies and some whole grains! Nice!

Dinner calories: ~335 kcal

I've got a bit of preparation to do for my chem lab, I might have a snack later, might not... I'll keep ya posted!

Mix it up Monday

Happy Monday guys!

Today's my long day... I've got a whole bunch of classes ahead of me- up until 6:45 this evening!
This morning I woke up on time (always good on a Monday!) and had the other 1/2 of my oatmeal raisin walnut clif bar for some fuel (125 kcal)

I went for a nice long 40 minute run on the track, and then walked back.
I just finished a very yummy new breakfast- granola, yogurt and berries!

I got some yummy looking blueberries on sale at S&S this weekend, so I had 1 container of fage 0% (80 kcal) with 1/2 cup fresh blueberries (50 kcal), and 3/4 cup pumpkin flax granola (210 kcal). It was very tasty- I'll definately have to have it again, I'm full for now but curious to see how long it holds me for.

This wasn't a very high-cal breakfast; ~340 for breakfast, plus the bar- ~465 kcal.
I might add another 1/4 cup granola next time if it doesn't last me through Kinesiology! We'll see.

Today I'm planning on grabbing a quick light lunch at the dining hall before my 1st Nutrition class, then I'll have a snack in between classes to hold me until I have a late dinner after my Food, Nutrition and People class!

Off to start my day...

Superbowl Sunday

So the patriots lost =(
I didn't even get to see the game, I was at work for 3/4 of it and I came back here right after (we don't have a TV) but I heard it was a close one!

Today was a nice Sunday, yet again.
I did 60 minutes of Hot Yoga... very intense, I couldn't even do a handful of the more challenging asanas! But it's all about practice, I'm sure I'll get there someday =)

After yoga, I was STARVING so my mom and I headed to one of our town's cute cafes... this one was called "Java Madness"... they're right by the marina, so it's great to watch the boats come by out on the deck in the summer!
Today was a beautiful day for sure, but we stayed inside.
Java makes great coffee and pastries, but we went for lunch... I got a panini-style sandwich on whole wheat bread with provolone cheese and grilled vegetables. I also ate a pickle on the side! It was very good, and filling... probably because of the full fat cheese (there were 2 big slices) but it held me like I wanted it to!
I actually was so hungry, I dug into my panini as soon as I got it and forgot to photograph it! Whoops.
I did get a bit of the end of it for ya-

Not sure the calorie count at all, it was filled with grilled peppers/onions, probably grilled with oils... but it was pretty simple otherwise. Veggies, cheese, bread. I'm not going to estimate this one, but it was pretty balanced!

Afterwards I studied at Starbucks for a couple hours, and grabbed a tall nonfat latte and had an apple for a snack before work.

At work, I had another easy dinner of tuna, some of the cauliflower I cooked last night, and a baggie of raw veggies to snack on. I ate it all and it filled me until I came home for my nightly snack.

Dinner calories: ~300

I was SOOO excited about my evening snack tonight! While my mom and I were out and about we stopped at Stop & Shop quick, and I grabbed myself a blood orange! I LOVE these, and we hardly ever get them around here. Not as good as the ones I ate in Italy in April, but it was nice and juicy... yum!

Snack calories: ~80

I got a good amount of work done at Starbucks today, so tonight I'm just going to put my laundry away and make it an early night.
Tomorrow's my long day... I'll definately be packing snacks!

Good night!

Delightfully Swiss

Mmmm... I just finished up a DELICIOUS bowl of Swiss oats! I wish you could have tried some of them, they were perfect!
Sooo creamy, even better than the last couple of times I've made them!
I made the recipe as usual, with 1/2 cup dry oats, 1/4 c each soy milk/water, 1 oz dried cherries, 10 g chopped walnuts (plus cinnamon!), let it sit overnight and then this morning I added 1/2 cup Fage 0%, a big banana and 1 tsp honey to finish it all over.
I'm nice and full for yoga! (I'll digest first and it should keep me going)

Total breakfast calories: ~550

After yoga I'm going out to lunch with mom, but I'm not sure where yet. Maybe soup and sandwiches? It's a pretty chilly day... nothing like the 50 degree weather we had yesterday!
I guess Phil saw his shadow- this means more winter? I hope not!

Enjoy your Sundays... I'll post lunch/dinner/etc later when I get back from work =)
