I don't know about you, but sometimes I get excited about a nice, low key Saturday!
Today has been one of those days!
I went for a nice light cardio session at the gym; 20 minutes on the elliptical and 20 on the bike plus 5 mins warmup for 45 minutes in total.
Nothing too intense, I had a late night last night so I am a bit tired.
Afterwards, I was working on my chem lab a bit and realized I was sooo hungry, there was no way I was making it to lunch! So I had 10 baby carrots with a laughing cow light garlic & herb cheese wedge. (85 kcal)
Did the trick, but only for an hour.
I was still hungry for my late lunch with Katrina!
I had my favorite "burger" at Crazy Burger; the Wild & Crazy Mushroom Burger! It's made with italian rice and mushrooms, and served with tomatoes, sprouts, pickles, and a mushroom sauce (which I used all of! It was only a couple tablespoons worth) on a multigrain bun. Yum! It was so big, but full of healthy foods, so I didn't feel too bad devouring it!
I ordered sweet potato fries on the side, but only ate about 7 of them... they weren't as good as they have been, and these looked fried, not baked like they usually do. I did dip in a bit of my favorite Crazy Burger Ketchup though! (Probably about a tablespoon) Mmm!
Not sure the calorie count of this lunch at all... but I'm having a balanced dinner so it shouldn't matter too much. It's all about balance!
After lunch I headed to the grocery store to stock up a bit for the week, some fresh fruit, yogurts, etc.
I picked up:
-bananas
-blueberries
-nectarines
-pears
-more baby carrots for dipping
-Fage 0%! The 5.5 oz sizes were 3/$5 so I had to get some! I got 2 0% and 1 peach 2% for a sweet snack some day soon
-Hood 1% cottage cheese
- a couple dannon light n fit yogurts
-nonfat soy milk
-lentil soup
and... on sale... a fun find- 100 calorie packs of KETTLE CORN! I love kettle corn, great when you want a salty/sweet fix, and whole grain! I'm excited to try these!
That was all for today... I'll get bread, more cottage cheese, soy burgers, cereal, and more veggies next week when I REALLY run out of food!
Now for some more studying! =)

you're so lucky you have Crazy Burger! the vegetarian burgers sound so delicious! have you ever tried Chili's Guiltless Gourmet Veggie Burger? I'm always looking for different vegetarian things to eat at common restaurants, I get sick of pasta and salads sometimes!
The burgers ARE delicious, if you're ever in Southern RI I highly reccomend stopping by!
I haven't tried those veggie burgers; but I have tried some of the other Chili's products and they were really good! I'll have to try the veggie burgers, I'm a big veggie burger fan! I love boca classic vegan burgers, but for veggie burgers I love Gardenburger Original, and Portabella burgers! (But they're all tasty!) Morningstar's Spicy Black bean burgers are sooo good as well!
I find that at restaurants sometimes you just need to be creative. Find out if they have a vegetarian soup option, or appetizers... maybe have a soup and a salad or a couple of appetizers... some restaurants will even make dishes vegetarian if you just ask them to omit the chicken, beef or w/e (nicely) and have them cook it seperately. It's weird the first few times, but after a while, asking for substitutions will feel like second nature, I do it all the time and have gotten some great meals out of it!
If it's a nice restaurant, sometimes the chef will make you your own special vegetarian dish... they want to impress their customers! =)
Hi Kristin,
It's very important to eat after exercise so you should have a more substantial post workout meal in future. :)
Hi Alicia,
I normally do, usually it's breakfast- yesterday was an exception, I had a weird schedule change...I thought I would be going for an early lunch, and we changed plans to a later lunch, so I had to grab a snack!
Thanks for the advice though!
