Ginger Zing

This morning I woke up to a pretty sunny morning, had the other 1/2 of my banana nut clif bar, and headed to the gym for a 40 minute run. I felt strong, and no annoying interruptions this time! I just love starting the day with some really good exercise.
When I came home and showered, I made my usual Monday morning breakfast- Fage 0% with Granola and Fruit. This morning I tried a new kind of Granola- Nature's Path Ginger Zing. It has cashews in it, which make it interesting and is very tasty... not AS tasty as my favorite Pumpkin Flax Granola though. I wish it were a little more gingery, but good for a change every once in a while!

I had 3/4 cup with 1 Fage 0% (5.5 oz) and 3/4 cup sweet blueberries.

My messy mix:

The nutrition is the same as the Pumpkin (140 kcals, 5 g fat for 1/2 cup), so hopefully it will hold me through Kinesiology until I have my packed lunch. No long lines for me today, I'm prepared!
Another long day for me- Kinesiology, eat, Nutrition, snack/study, Nutrition until 7... then dinner time! Just something quick tonight, I'm sure I'll be hungry and tired!

Have a great Monday!

Hey Kristen, first I want to say I love reading your blog, keep up the good work! I was wondering what is your school schedule is like? I would like to start running in the mornings but I have early classes. So if you could share with me your morning run shedule that would be great. I currently run in the afternoons around 3 but sometimes when I wait that late I begin to talk myself out of it. THanks again.

Reggy13- I am very lucky to have a very good schedule this semester- I lucked out with some good time in the morning, but I DO have some long days!
Monday- I'm up at 7:30, and leave for the gym by 7:45... I'm back around 9, I have class 12-12:50, eat lunch, then I have class 2-2:50, study and have a snack in between, then I have class 4-6:45. Then it's dinner, studying and to bed!
Tuesday- Up at 6:30, gym at 6:45, back by 8, class 9:30-10:45, study and lunch, class 12:30-1:45 and then I usally work or do yoga in the evening.
Wednesday- Same as Monday morning, but my classes end at 12:50. I usually have work though, so my day never ends at 1!
Thursday-Up at 6:30 again, gym 6:45-8, class at 9:30, lunch, 12:30-1:45 class, then a lab 2-5pm... and then I'm exhausted.
Friday- (My favorite day!) Run in the morning (same time as Mon/Wed), then classes end at 12:50. If I'm lucky I don't work and either study or go home in the afternoon!

I like to run in the mornings, because a. it's a great way to start my day (gives me energy!) and b. I get it over with so I have NO reason to talk myself out of it, I do the same thing!
When I had earlier classes (all 9 a.m... ) I was up by 6:30 every morning and out the door by 6:45 to run outside; but it's much harder now in the winter cold!

On the weekends I usually take it easy, unless I didn't get the chance to run during the week I just do light cardio on Saturday and Hot Yoga on Sunday.
Hope that helps!

HK, I have no idea! I liked her blog as well; we have very similar eating styles!

Veggiegirl, I enjoyed this granola, but you can't go wrong with Pumpkin Flax, I've gotta say. And it DID hold me... somehow all the way through Kinesiology, until I had a chance to sit down and enjoy my chick'n salad lunch!
