An Indian Feast

We traveled to the land of bollywood and belly dancing for a fabulous, flavorful ethnic feast at tonight's dinner!
I used two of Happy Herbivore's recipes again- for Red Lentil Dal and Saag- and of course, they were amazing as always.
The spices blended together perfectly, and paired with a couple mini whole wheat pitas (our quick version of Naan), they hit the spot as a deliciously spicy, filling meal!
I couldn't puree the Saag like I had hoped because my blender broke, and I forgot to add enough cayenne to make it super spicy, but it still turned out tasty!

I served myself a BIG portion of lentils, and once I piled them on my plate I thought I wouldn't be able to finish them. Well, I did end up finishing them- there was so much flavor, I couldn't help myself! Thats ok- there are worse things I could have stuffed myself on than lentils!
I'm so glad my first attempt at Indian food was a good one- I'll definately be experimenting more, I love Garam Masala especially- it definately "makes" the dish!

Lindsay, you are a flavor genius- the spice combinations in your recipes never fail to please my palette =)

My mom and I are watching a super interesting movie tonight- it's called "Awake", about a hospital patient who the doctors believe is under anesthesia but is actually awake during the procedure... freaky! It's got my attention, so I'm going to go back and watch a bit before I make my Indian inspired dessert!

Have a fun Saturday night!
