Through the noise

Someone must have pulled a fire alarm in the building behind us, because all I can hear right now is a loud beeping, chattering of dozens of evacuating students and sirens! Quite the interesting breakfast background "music". (Usually I've got something a little more calming playing on itunes!)

Anyway, this morning I woke up and was happy to find it was already nice and warm, with no wind at all- so I took my run outside again today, running the same hilly route I took the previous day, with a couple extra twists and turns to make my run a bit longer- 40 minutes instead of 35. It was a great run, and I felt really energized afterwards. However, I still wish I could find a longer route- maybe running 45 minutes, or even 50 on days I have time. Of course theres not much time left in the semester, so we'll see if I can figure something out! I'm sure my runs will get longer once I'm back home.

Before I left to run I fueled up with the other 1/2 of my cherry almond clif bar, and when I returned I made myself a nice big bowl of my new ezekiel cereal (1 cup, Cinnamon Raisin) with a cup of hemp milk. I have to say, I really like this flavor! I miss the almonds a bit, but the raisins are a delicious touch and the cinnamon makes it just sweet enough! Maybe I'll add some slivered almonds next time and get the best of both worlds =)
On the side I also had a big orange! Usually I get annoyed by having to peel the orange when I'm hungry in the morning, so I go for fruit I can "grab and eat"- but this morning I was craving the citrus, and it peeled very easily so I was pleased!

Just one class today, but then I need to take some time to study for my Chem lab final AND my last chemistry exam... both of which are occuring tomorrow! I am sooo nervous, I'm not even sure what to study anymore. I guess I'll just do my best to review everything and hope I'm understanding the material as much as I think I am...
I also have work later tonight, so my dinner/snack posts will be later. At least I'm done with work for the week after tonight, I can relax after my exams on Thursday, and then the weekend is going to be a fun cooking/baking one... I'm doing a lot of experimenting- and I'm making my sister a special vegan treat (she chose the recipe) for the help she gave me last weekend. I'll be looking forward to that!

Have a nice hump day!

Hey Kristin,

This is my first time posting, but have been following your blog for a while and I just want to say keep up the good work!

Sorry about your "background" music you had, lol. I have only had one fire drill this year and it was during the COLDEST day of the year and we all had to evacuate the dorm. Some people had been showering and had to go outside in the snow with only a towel on! Poor kids..

I see you also tried the ABC Snickerdoodle cookie. I tried it last night as well and was really blown away! I was a bit skeptical because the texture was not like the other ABC cookies, but I was pleasantly surprised! I also wanted to keep eating it, but I got full afer eating only half of my half serving.. will definitely be eating it soon, tho!

I saw that same cereal at my health food store, but I was skeptical about it, since it seems a bit too caloric for what I would like it to be. let us know how well it holds you over!

Good luck studying for Chem (I remember that class was a real toughie!).. I'm sure you'll do well.

Btw, what year are you?

Ahh, you just reminded me about ONE of the reasons I'm glad that I don't live on a college campus anymore - random fire alarms!! Haha. Hope the noise didn't cause too much of a headache!

Enjoy having just ONE class today (lucky!); and good luck with your chemistry lab final and your very last chemistry exam!! The end of the school year is getting closer!! :0)

Oooh, can't wait to read about what you make for your sister!

Vegannurse,
Thanks for reading! I'm glad you like my blog =)
I LOVE the ezekiel cereal; yes, its calorie dense but very full of nutrients, 3/4 a cup (1.5 servings) with some nondairy milk holds me over very well, usually about 3.5 hours. (Foods normally don't hold me that long- usually it's about 3 hours) I add the extra 1/4 cup for some extra healthy calories, because I am working on adding a few pounds.

I can not wait to eat the other 1/2 of my ABC cookie as well! It's definately looking like an after-work treat tonight =)

Thanks for the good luck, I'm going to need it! Chem has been my hardest class so far, but it's only my second semester... I hear anatomy's a tough one as well! (I'm taking that in the fall)

Veggiegirl,
Ah, yes- luckily the alarm stopped a few minutes after I wrote that entry, so I could study in peace for the remainder of the morning. But I am SO excited to be living off campus next year, one year of dorm living has been more than enough for me!
Plus I get a kitchen next year =)
In fact, I just bought myself a brand new nonstick muffin/cupcake pan to celebrate my oven! (I'm such a food nerd, hehe)

My sister just sent me an email about what dessert she wants... I'm so excited about it, you'll definately be jealous =)
