Simple and Satisfying

What a week.
For only three days, it has been quite the whirlwind of a first few classes!

I woke up bright and early this morning in enough time to enjoy a hot bowl of oat bran before heading to the gym. This bowl was my favorite sweet, buttery combo- 1/2 cup oatbran, 1 cup nonfat soy, 1 tsp ghee, 1 ripe banana, and a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon. Mmm, mmm!

This bowl fuels me miraculously well for the gym! Although I got a little annoyed today when I got on the elliptical a couple minutes later than usual and got kicked off at 33 minutes due to a waiting list! Ah, well I still got 33 good ones in.

Afterwards I proceeded to do arms:
Tricep dips on bench- 3 sets, 15 reps
Overhead Triceps extension- 1 set, 12 reps/12 lbs, 2 sets 6 reps/15 lbs
Triceps kickbacks- 1 set, 12 reps/12 lbs, 2 sets 6 reps/15 lbs
Arm pulses, bicep curls, monkey curls, overhead press- all 1 set 12/12, 2 sets 6/15
Shrugs- 2 sets 12/25 lbs
Bench rows- 2 sets 12/12 lbs
Seated bench press- 2 sets 12/12 lbs

All in all this took about 30 minutes.
I was wearing a men's 'beater' today instead of my usual activa -shirt, and I could really see my muscles that have formed- it definitely gave me confidence to push harder!!!

After showering and heading to school I snacked on some almonds I packed before class.
After class I finished up the rest of my packed food while doing some interesting reading on metabolism- did you know starvation actually reduces the metabolism, and it can take up to 4 months to rev it back up to usual? Or that protein ups the metabolism, while fat slows it down (slightly)??
For lunch I packed leftovers from last night (Chicken Tagine- just as good as the first time!) and some grapes.

I gave the roomie a ride home, wrote out my grocery list and set out to run some errands. Work, Bank, Groceries. I got some great deals on groceries- I got everything I needed for the week and Nick's dinner request tomorrow night, for about $7 less than I had planned! Nice!

I was super hungry when I returned, so I snacked on 1/2 cup of 1% whipped cottage cheese while doing even MORE reading!!

Dinner was the three "s"es- simple, satisfying, and scrumptious!
I made a simple Sesame Salmon on top of wilted spinach, using the base recipe from the newest issue of Fitness Magazine. Seriously guys, go out and buy this magazine!! the recipes are beyond fabulous!! I quartered it for myself, of course- and added a sliced carrot stick on the side for some extra carotenoids and crunch!!

I am done for the day.
For the week, really! I've done most of my reading, so I'm taking the rest of the night off for some Kristin Time (I think another face mask and a yummy dessert are in order!) and tomorrow off to celebrate the boy's birthday. Which reminds me, Nick is coming home tomorrow!! Actually, I'm picking him up at the airport around 1:30 so my posts may be a bit off, I hope you understand. I'll post when I can!

Have a fabulous start to your weekend!!
