Who was I kidding?

Did I really think I, the chocolate queen herself would be able to keep my fingers out of the giant pan of hot, melty chocolate I was warming to make home made chocolate covered strawberries? Of course I couldn't!
I had quite a few licks in the process of this:

They came out cute though, they're going to serve as a topping for my sister's birthday cake I'm baking later on today!
Which reminds me, Happy Birthday Ali!
I seriously can't believe the girl is 15 (however she is taller than me...), boy does time fly! I can't wait to see her tonight, we're going out for a big Italian dinner in Newport, my faaaaavorite city in all of RI!

After my chocolate covered baking adventures I headed a couple streets down to Erics, where I had a nice night with friends- a couple slip-ups though... I had a small piece of pizza as well as a couple handfuls of party trail mix. Whoops! I know I need to keep my social eating habits to a bare minimum, especially as I'm trying to shed those last couple unwanted holiday lbs. Tonight (and from now on) I'll try and be better and eat when I'm hungry, only. That was no way to start off the new year, although it was a great night with friends!

This morning I woke up, determined to start the day off on a healthy foot. I made myself a delicious yogurt bowl of 1 cup 0% chobani topped with a big banana and about 1/4 c fresh blueberries, 1/4 c slivered almonds. Scrumtious, and pretty as well!

I promise theres yogurt in the bottom of the bowl! ;)

My protein packed brekkie was awesome fuel for my calorie-smashing cardio workout this morning- I did a 50 minute routine that included 35 minutes on the treadmill alternating walking at an incline and running, as well as 15 minutes on the stat bike at high speed.

I got off to a later start today so I was starving for lunch when I got home. I was feelin' the veggies- trying to stay super healthy today because I know tonight will be a rich meal! I made myself a humongous salad featuring a bed of spinach, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, chickpeas and 3 oz tuna, drizzled with 1 tbsp Newman's Light Italian dressing. On the side, carrots and a GIGANTIC apple, that was perfectly crisp. I love macintosh apples!!

This filled me up, and hopefully will keep me from sampling too much cake batter as I set off to play pastry chef for a day!

I'll be posting late tonight, have a great Saturday!
