Winter Weather Warning

The 3 W's that always put a damper on my evening =(
Late this evening into early tomorrow morning southern RI is supposed to get a 'wintry mix' of snow, turning into freezing rain and sleet. This means my a.m. gym plans are pretty much shot. Boo!
I guess I'll just have to sleep in tomorrow and plan on going after lunch when everything clears up (it's supposed to, knock on wood!)

Luckily today was just cold, but I wasn't in it for long!
I woke up in a cozy house, warm enough to enjoy my last (tear!) chocolate banana berry smoothie... I'm all out of frozen berries AND protein powder!! It was a good last smoothie for a while though!

I sipped away while putting my food for the day at work together- almonds, which I ate mid morning, leftover Maui Black Bean soup (even better a day after- I can't wait until I have the last serving!) and an apple which served as lunch and 1/2 a clif bar I had after work on the way to the gym.

Work went by fairly quickly, I was working with the lovely Erica who is always fun to talk to (she loves yoga as much as I do!) so that made the day go by faster.
After work I headed to the gym, where I had a nice cardio session- 35 minutes inclined fastwalking/ steady running on the treadmill followed by 15 minutes on the elliptical. I then did 20 minutes of leg exercises- 3 sets of 12 with 12 pounds of lunges and standing splits, 30 lb squats, and 2 sets/12 leg press (both shins and quads) at 150 lbs. Lunch and my snack fueled me well today- the power of whole foods, I tell ya!

Back home after the gym I showered and set out to make myself an early dinner. I needed a refuel, stat! I made myself a fabulous meal that came together in less than 15 minutes!! Can you believe it?? I used Robin Miller's recipe for healthy Balsamic Glazed Salmon from a past issue of Clean Eating magazine, as well as a micro baked sweet potato and about a cup of steamed broccoli. Perfecto Trifecta! Nutrients galore in this meal, and delish to boot!

I'm off to watch a 'new' episode of my fave Showtime drama (I'm on the 5th season now!) that just came in from Netflix, 'see' you all in the morning!

P.S. I just want to point out this incredible entry by the wonderful Miss Jenna from Eat, Live, Run. This girl has it spot on, let me tell you. She's definitely one of my favorite food bloggers, she's just so real and understanding about really, truly being healthy. So many times I find myself having to 'retrain' myself to eat just one piece of chocolate... and reading things like she wrote really make me understand why it's important to indulge your body and soul, but in moderation. Thanks for the constant inspiration, Jenna!
