Out early!

Tonight I had an unexpected surprise when I glanced at the schedule in the office at work and realized I was on until 8, not 9!! I got so excited, you can betcha I was out the door at eight o'clock!

Before I headed into work, I grabbed a grande soy latte from Starbucks, and snacked on a baggie of grapes to hold me until dinner.

Boy, was I glad I had my snack because I didn't get to eat dinner until 7! I was starving, but I packed a big hearty dinner of leftovers, so it was good. I had some leftover chili, cornbread, and salad from last night- I only ate half the salad because the rest filled me up sooo well- I'm still stuffed after almost 2 hours! I may or may not have a snack tonight, we'll see!

In any case, I'm happy to be home and relaxing with my book near my cool fan. A calming summer's night for sure. =)

Hi Kristin, I know you usually run in the morning, but a lot of times because of my work schedule I have to end up eating dinner, waiting some time, and then go running. I just started a couple weeks ago, so am only going about 2 - 3 miles per day, with a combo of walking and running, but if you were having to do this, would you still eat a snack after even if going to bed within a half hour or hour. I have always heard its best to eat a combo of protein and carbs after a workout, so Ive been having a small snack of yogurt, cereal, and fruit.
I was just wondering your opinion on this, and what you would do in my situation, and also wanted to let you know your a huge inspiration (your part of the reason I started runing again, and your blog is helping me gain those extra lbs. i need), and your cake for your dad looks perfect!
Sorry for such a long post, but thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it.

Annie,
I used to run at night as well, and I always had a small snack afterwards, because even though you'll be going to sleep soon after, your body still needs the fuel it lost to function. You don't need anything substantial, obviously because you won't be active afterwards, but some yogurt/cereal/fruit is a great idea. I would definately keep this up! And you are right- a good combo of carbs and protein is exactly what your body needs to refuel! You seem like you're on the right track!
I'm glad my blog has been such a help to you!
Good luck with running and gaining!
