Dreary Vacation

It's not a very nice morning, rainy and wet my first day of vacation... but I'll be in the car for part of the day, and then going from place to place... I just hope we don't have to walk much!
Last night I didn't get as much "catch up" sleep as I had hoped, but I slept a bit better than previous nights.
I woke up and had 1/2 a big banana, and went for an easy run on the treadmill... just 35 minutes running and 10 walking, I needed to go easy this morning.
My stomach is still bothering me... I wish I knew what this is! I hope it goes away soon =/
After my run, I contemplated breakfast. I was just going to go with a big smoothie, because I knew I was going to have grains at lunch and dinner... but I talked myself out of it. I need to realize sometimes my body NEEDS the fuel to keep me going for the morning- and this morning I knew I should probably have a bigger breakfast to hold me until lunch.
So, I made the smoothie as planned- the other 1/2 of my banana, 1/2 cup each frozen mango and mixed berries (whole foods organic 365 brand), 1/2 cup stonyfield fat free vanilla yogurt, and 1/4 cup of nonfat milk just to even it all out. On the side, for some healthy fat and grain I had 1 slice light 7 grain bread toasted with 1 tbsp peanut butter. This whole breakfast was 500 calories, which is a good, balanced start to my day- no restrictions.

The smoothie/pb toast DEFINATELY filled me up, I almost feel stuffed! Thats alright, it will be a few hours until we get to Lowell for lunch... I've got a cool new place picked out so hopefully it will be an interesting post later on tonight!
See you after the concert!

so sorry that the weather AND your stomach are not cooperating - can't do much about mother nature (unfortunately); but as for your stomach, do you think it could be the dairy? I hope you feel better soon so that you can fully enjoy your break!

i just found your blog through eatiliverun. i'm excited to start reading. I am a recent vegetarian/almost vegan (no dairy for me though I do eat some non-vegan baked goods etc on special occasians). I'm still adjusting to the change but it is the perfect thing for my very touchy stomach. ANYWAY, I'm also a freshman in college struggling to make healthy foods with only a microwave and mini fridge in my dorm room. I run ALOT too. I was a cross country runner in high school and just completed my first half marathon last fall. I have to be really careful to keep my weight up because I lost way too much weight last year due to over exercising and not eating enough (my stomach makes me sick alot and I was overly restrictive) So thats my life story....sorry about the incredibly long post just thought it was funny how much we have in common. Look forward to checking in on the blog and posting!

VeggieGirl,
I thought about that as an option... but I have significantly reduced my dairy intake recently, besides the occasional yogurt or cottage cheese (and today's cheese-filled pizza night hehe)... and that hasn't seemed to affect it... so I'm not sure what it is yet! I guess I'll have to experiment a bit with some foods, and wait and see... I hope it's not an allergy!

SaraF,
Welcome! I'm glad you like my blog- we seem to have a lot in common! I would definately like to work up to a half marathon one day, 10 miles is the most I've gone... I just need to get in my healthiest state, physically, before I reach for that goal!
I guess you've found that I totally understand the weight issue; as I'm sure you've noticed I am definately trying to gain some weight after about a year and a half of intense training and restrictive eating... it's hard for sure, but as long as it's done in a healthy way it's for the best! I too, have had stomach issues in the past and am currently dealing with a minor issue I have yet to solve, so it looks like you've come to the right place! Enjoy, comment, and I hope I can lend some helpful suggestions!
