My person and new awakenings

Cristina: Mer, why do you care what I think?
Meredith: Because you're my person!
Did anyone get this Grey's Anatomy reference?? ;)

Everyone has their "person". For some people, it's their spouse, their mom, dad, co-worker, grandparent, for me, it's my best friend Danielle. She recently left to go on a few-week long trip with her boyfriend, about 5 hours away. So our communication status? Not so ideal.
And just about the time when Danielle left the state (and we're not seperated very often- the longest we've been apart is 10 days and that was back in the 8th grade!!) my left began to, well, slowly fall apart.
Nothing was going right, nothing was going as planned. My job started going downhill, as did my schooling- I was doing the work, and not seeing any benefits in either case. I was getting no sleep, always exhausted, I've been gaining weight, I haven't seen much of anyone but Tyler (I live with him!) and Nick, and I've become so stressed out and run down I'm just not a happy person right now. And I am NOT fun when I'm stressed- all my friend can attest to this. I get snappy and high strung.
But enough of my sob story. Point is, Danielle wasn't here- and Danielle has ALWAYS been here when I've been freaking out, to open my eyes and make me realize it's not so bad, to bring me back to earth and push me into reality. When she wasn't here to help, I had to turn to myself to try and calm myself down. I'm not so good at that.

Yesterday after work, Danielle came over. She got home on Wednesday, and I haven't seen her since she's been back. I was so glad she came over. I needed to see her, and lo and behold, we talked and I feel a trillion times better. When I got home, I had a sliced pear with cinnamon and we each had a Harvest beer because we were just talking and relaxing before bed.

I also had a tiny biscotti for a sweet treat- this was the perfect size, only about as big as twice my thumb.

We chatted, I felt much better and slept well.
I woke up this morning and remembered I HAVE to go grocery shopping- we're running very low on food! I still wanted oats, so I cooked 1/2 cup oats in 1 cup nonfat soymilk to make them nice and creamy, peeled and chopped a BIG apple, and put it in during the last minute of the oats cooking to soften it up. They came out a bit liquidy, but thickened up some. I also added 2 tbsp raisins and 2 tbsp chopped walnuts with a huge "dash" of cinnamon. Voila, Cinnamon Apple Walnut Oats!!

Today I have another busy day. Exercise in the morning, running some errands, grabbing lunch, URI's homecoming football game with my grandpa at 11, some more errands, studying, and then later tonight I'm hanging out with Eric to have a pizza/movie night! I'll post when I can!

So fun that you and your "person" (hehe) got to catch up - it's always a must, I believe, to have someone that you can truly confide in and turn to when you need someone to talk to.

Oooh, Cinnamon-Apple-Walnut Oats?? Divine!!

Best of luck with your busy day, Kristin!!

Hey Kristin, I am sorry to hear things aren't going so well. I have the same problem where I get completely overwhelmed, and I am feeling it too. I am just like you in that I have a really hard time calming myself down, I always need someone else to tell me lol, but I am glad that you friend is back to help you feel better.
I just want you to know that in the end it will all be ok. I don't know how you have been studying for anatomy but I just finished it last semester, and one thing that helps is if you have an atlas of the cat, bones etc just carry it everyhwere with you! I would always bring it along and flip it out when I am waiting or what not. (I am such a little nerd haha) But it really did help, just seeing it all the time! Thats kind of what I am doing with my microbiolgy class, well with my noteboook lol. I just whip it out when I am waiting or in the car haha.
Oh and check out the interet because there are tons of other university websites that have really cool images and memorization quizzes.
I really hope things work out for you Kristin. Just stay focused and don't let things overwhelm you too much. Take Care!

Don't you just hate it when you're "person" is away?? It's like, "no, you can't go! You belong to me!" LOL
Glad everything worked out!
