Bad dreams

This morning I woke up in a slightly off-mood... I had three (yes, three!) bad dreams last night that made me a little gloomy when I woke up this morning. The funny thing is, I hardly ever remember having dreams, so when I have a few this vivid and scary it puts me in a bit of a bad mood!
However, my philosophy on dreams like the ones I had are nightmares are meant to make you realize how good you have it. I'm healthy, my family is healthy, despite some stress, life is good.
I still woke up on time, and made myself my food for the day while snacking on 1/2 a PB clif bar before heading to the gym.
I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, followed by 25 minutes of strength- I increased my weight so I decreased my reps a bit, as I get stronger I'll start doing more. I'm going for hypertrophy (gaining muscle) so upping my resistance is a must!
For breakfast, I packed my usual M/W/F on the go brekkie- 0% chobani, a banana and cereal. Today I packed a cup of Quaker Oatmeal Squares, which I was suuuuuper impressed with! YUM! These have got to be THE best snackie cereal. Ok, I guess Kashi Go Lean Crunch is still my alltime fave, but QOS's are definately a close second (followed by peanut butter puffins for sure!).

This held me through Nutrition and Anatomy (last class before my exam!), and I ate my lunch afterwards while doing some studying. I packed a bunch of greens and tomatoes, as well as some tuna-chickpea salad to top them. I used 1 drained 6-oz can of chunk light tuna mixed with 1/4 cup chickpeas and 1 tbsp Newman's Own light Italian dressing for a flavorful, protein-packed lunch! I had a yummy organic honey crisp apple on the side as well.

For a snack before lab I munched on a peanut butter chocolate Pure Protein bar (which I didn't photograph, but I'm sure you guys know how it looks by now!)
After lab, which went pretty well- I got another 86% on my lab quiz, which is good enough for me in Anatomy nowadays!- I came home and quickly made my dinner.
Ohmigosh I can NOT get enough of the honey ham/cheddar cheese/egg combo. Ohmigosh, soooo savory and delicious!!!
I made myself an egg sandwich by poaching 1 full egg in a little water and vinegar, and placing this on an Arnold's sandwich thin (whole wheat variety- these are GREAT!) with some ketchup, 2 slices (1/2 a serving) all-natural honey ham and a slice of reduced fat cheddar. I nuked it for a few seconds just to make it melty, and steamed some mediterranean-blend veggies (frozen, 1 cup's worth- 50kcals, 2 g fat) to have on the side. Since I was so starving, this meal was beyond perfect- exactly what I was craving, minimal effort, minimal cleanup (I pot, 1 plate, 1 spoon, 1 fork!) and oooohhh sooo tasty!

I'm nice and satisfied now, fueled up again to do some dishes and then anatomy studying (I'm such a ball of fun these days! hehe)...

Oh, and as for my late-night run last night- it went well! The boy and I headed out around 8:30 and it wasn't nearly as cold as I thought it was going to be. I felt great, but I guess I ran a little fast for him because we only ended up doing a mile and a half before someone got tired... but then we went back home, and he kicked my ass with 3 sets of about 8 different ab/arm exercises afterwards. Man, are my abs sore! My new goal is to be able to do perfect, real pushups again, like I could a couple years back... it will take some work, but I love getting in shape!
