Treats and Taxes

Happy Hump day, and tax day!
I'm lucky to have a Momma who knows her taxes (she worked at H&R block for a while), so she did them for me =)
But my tax return isn't going to me this year, you'll see when I use it =)

Last night when I got home from work, I wasn't too hungry, as I normally am! Mom's bean soup really filled me up (must of been all the fiber & protein!), so I settled on a little easter treat instead-

Man, i love creme eggs =)

Today I woke up, ready for a nice big bowl of oatbran when... ohmigosh... I was OUT OF OAT BRAN! Well, not completely. There was about 1/4 cup chilling in the bottom of my airtight container, but of course 1/4 cup is not enough to fill this girl up! I considered stealing some of the boy's cereal, or resorting to eating tomorrow's breakfast today... but then I remembered... free samples came in the mail!!
I dug into my backpack and pulled out this:

I have never had Cream of Wheat before, but my best friend Danielle loves it, and the nutritionals are quite good:
-one serving of Cream of Wheat supplies nearly half of the daily value of iron.
-one serving of Cream of Wheat supplies 20% of the daily value for calcium and up to 70% when prepared with fat free milk.

1 packet-
Calories: 90
Fat: 0g
Carbs: 17g
Fiber: 1 g (could use more)
Protein: 3 g

I prepared my portion with 2/3 cup nonfat soy milk, as the package directs, and I added 1 sliced banana and a big scoop of almond butter for some healthy fats.

The verdict? Good! But the texture... eh, not sure yet. I think I would eat this again, but I probably wouldn't buy a whole box, because it kind of felt like I was eating baby food. Bleh. It tasted good though, a little sweet, and very creamy. Plus it held me all through my sweaty workout!

After my workout (35 on the elliptical/35 arm weights), I headed to school for Sports Nutrition. We're already done with Carbs, protein, and fats... the end of the semester is near!

For lunch I packed the rest of the leftovers from Easter-

a bit of ham and some lemon scented quinoa salad.

For snacks, I packed a light string cheese (which I ate before class), some grapes (I had with lunch) and an apple (for later).

I also have a new Zoe's granola bar I'll be trying as well!

I'm going to try and post pictures later, I'm going to my parent's for dinner, and then a quick trip to the mall with Dad to find some pants for my job interview tomorrow!

Sorry the posts have been/will be frantic for a few weeks... school is crazy, and as the end of the semsester nears blogging has to take the back burner to school! I'll be back in full swing soon though!

P.S. In the blog world... the lovely Gina, The Finessista, is holding an amazing Stonyfield giveaway, worth $75!!

When I was little I always had cream of wheat, but it wasn't instant and it was thicker. I have the packet too though, so maybe I'll try to compare.

Also, I am giving away the stonyfield farm pacakge as well, so come on over for another chance to win.
